A Gambling Duh Moment

You know how you read an article and wonder why it took a team of professionals and lots of dollars in research money to reach a certain conclusion? So here was my gambling duh moment of the week: A certain newspaper ran an article with the heading: Casino Employees Like Betting. Really now? You don’t say! According to the article, over 800 employees at casinos in Macau were asked about betting and most of them said that they saw gambling as an easy way to make money and enjoyed the challenge of gambling. Now, I’m no researcher or academic big shot, but I could probably tell you that to be a casino dealer, you’d actually have to like the environment of a casino – and that includes betting. It’s like saying that to be a teacher, you have to like kids, or to be a doctor, you have the need to care for people. Just my two cents….

And here’s my favorite duh joke of the week:

One rainy evening, Carl and his wife emerged from Pizza Hut only to find that he had locked the keys in the car. He insisted he could open the door with a wire coat hanger, so they went back in the Pizza Hut to get one. There were none to be found.

Carl then ran to a department store a quarter-mile away and returned with a hanger. After a few attempts, he got the door open and they climbed in. As they sat there, soaked and cold, he stuck the hanger under his seat.

With a smug grin, he said, “Now if this ever happens again, I’ll have one.”
